Today, December 6th, there was a declaration of the state of affairs at Kyonggi University Suwon campus. It was held at E-square at 1 p.m. for about 25 minutes by the Kyonggi University Declaration Organization(KGUDO). KGUDO also gathered signatures from about 350 students yesterday. 

 At 10:20 p.m. on December 3rd, Yoon Seok-yeol proclaimed martial law. However, Martial law was lifted by the resolution of the National Assembly in 3 hours. This has been a hot issue in Kyonggi University, and the In-yeon Student Council denounced Yoon in public. 

 At today's declaration, four students spoke in order: Lee Ju-won of International Studies, Um Ji-hye of Library and Information Science, Lee Yun-bin of International Studies, and Kim Hee-joong of English Language and Literature. They said "President Yoon who proclaimed martial law just endangered the country" and "Martial law damaged the constitution and democracy of Korea." They insisted to Kyonggi University's students "We have to demand the National Assembly to make right choices as representatives of our nation." They demand Yoon's resignation saying "As the Kyonggi University's slogan 'National Salvation Kyonggi(구국 경기),' we will join hands to save our country from the crisis."

  Regardless of the colors of politics, university students as the intellectual and cultured should be able to think critically and have their own opinions. Indifference is the poison for democracy. Duty as a citizen cannot be ignored by themselves, and somebody else. Wake up and keep your eyes open.
