As COVID-19 restrictions have gradually eased, the school is full of students. In order to create more pleasant spaces as the number of students studying at school has increased, the Central Library has been undergoing renovation since last vacation, and it was finally completed at the opening of the school. Pharos will introduce the newly renovated library and explain the updated spaces. In addition, we will also introduce some study spaces located around campus for students who want to study in between classes or close to their own lecture rooms.

THE CENTRAL LIBRARY

• The first floor of the Central Library is a user-friendly space that provides a place for relaxation, meetings, and learning through K-LOUNGE, a Creative Learning Commons (CLC). The K-LOUNGE consists of the Creative Discussion Room, Creative Factory, the Kyonggi University Library, and a free seating area. You can choose from among private seats, open seats, single seats, and multi-person seats to suit your taste.

• K-LOUNGE and general reading rooms 1, 2, and 3 are located on the 3rd and 4th floors and are available after reserving seats at the reservation machine. They are open from 06:00 to 24:00 all year round.

• You can use computer keyboards in all places except for general reading room 3.

• You can make a reservation on the Internet if you go to the website of the Kyonggi University Library. You can reserve whatever seat you want. After you make a reservation, you can enter the library with your student ID card, and as soon as you enter, you are automatically designated a seat.

Reviews from Students After the Renovation

- The facilities are comfortable and better, but the number of seats has decreased, so it is likely to be fierce during the examination period.

- Before remodeling, there was only one outlet at the edge of the wall, but after renovation, the number of outlets has increased, making it more convenient.

- The gap between seats has widened, so it feels less stuffy. Moreover, the mood has become brighter which makes me visit the library more frequently than before.

Other Places to Study in Our Campus

K-AGORA

• If you want to study freely like a cafe rather than a formulaic mood library, Pharos will recommend K-AGORA for you. K-AGORA is located on the first floor of the Student Hall and is largely composed of big and small conference rooms, learning spaces, and resting spaces. In learning space in K-AGORA, you can study privately with a partition, or if you want to, several people can study together at a large table. Also, you can choose soft and comfortable sofas to study, and there are computers for information research. On the side of this place, there is a rest area consisting of bean bags and sofas, so you can use them freely when you want to rest while studying. The conference room can be used through reservations, and the big conference room can accommodate up to 20 people and the small conference room can accommodate up to 10 people. Reservations can be made through Kakao Talk-Plus Friends of the student council until 10 P.M. on the day of use.

K-MARU

• If you want to rent a study-room, we recommend K-MARU on Seongsin-Gwan. K-MARU consists of a space for individuals to study, a meeting room for group activities or meetings, a computer-enabled PC room, and a lounge for short breaks. The conference room can be reserved, which is done through visiting the College of Art’s school team and applying for a reservation.

E-SQUARE

• E-Square, located in the center of Kyonggi University’s Suwon Campus, also has a space for students to rest or study called Kyonggi Edu Soft Lab. There are also two study rooms here, and the hall has various seats for students to freely study or relax. You need to make a reservation for a study room, which is available on the website of the College of Liberal Arts.

1st FLOOR OF ENGINEERING HALL 2

• How about using a studying space on the 1st floor of Engineering Hall 2, an engineering college building? Not only students who take lectures here, but also students from other majors have time to study here. There are also conference rooms, lounge rooms, and PC rooms, and it is convenient for students can use them conveniently because they can use the printer for free.

4th, 5th FLOOR OF LECTURE HALL 7

• There is also a study room on the 4th and 5th floors of Giphyeon-Gwan. This place is designed so that students can study for a short time during the time in between classes and it can be used at any time because there is no need for a reservation. Reading room facilities, partition desks, and lights are provided, allowing students to study in a more concentrated state.

4th FLOOR OF GENERAL LECTURE HALL

• There is a study hall on the 4th floor of the General Lecture Hall. This place feels like an open lounge compared to other places, so it is more comfortable and easy to use than other places.

As you can see, we have explored various studying spaces on campus. How about trying to use these studying spaces during the time in-between classes or in your other free time? We hope that Kyonggi University students will study enthusiastically in the newly renewed Central Library and self-study spaces.
