There are numerous scholarship programs at Kyonggi University. Freshmen who enter the school can receive on-campus scholarships. However, it is not easy to know the exact information about the scholarship system. In order to introduce the information of on-campus scholarships to Kyonggi University students, the type of scholarship systems will be explained. Through these explanations, students will be able to find out what scholarships they can receive and try hard to achieve something that they previously did not know about. Pharos has conducted an interview with the scholarship support team to explain the types and systems of scholarships to students.

Q1. Please introduce yourself.

Hello. I’m Park Jung-Hyun, majoring in Economics.

Q2. Have you ever received a scholarship?

Yes. As a freshman, a letter about scholarships came from school during summer vacation after the semester. I got a call that I was selected for a KGU A recommended scholarship. When I first received the message, I was curious about why I received it, and I also had a frustrating feeling because I didn’t know what kind of scholarship it was.

Q3. Do you know anything about our school scholarship system? If you know something, please explain what kind of scholarship you know about.

I knew about the scholarship system for grade improvement scholarships and for excellent grades in the department. As for grade improvement scholarship, I understand that the greater the improvement compared to the previous semester’s grades, the more scholarships you can receive. For the excellent grade scholarship, the school gives scholarships to students with certain grades designated by the department. I know the existence of the KGU A, B, C, and D scholarships I received, but I didn't know the terms of the type of scholarship.

Q4. Were you interested in the scholarship program?

Before I got the scholarship, I knew that the university gave me a scholarship, but I was just curious about how I could get it. I thought it was inconvenient and difficult to find information. Yet, I was interested in the scholarship systems because I was curious about how to receive more scholarships. Therefore, I made efforts to ask my seniors and acquaintances, and to go to the Kyonggi University website and the scholarship support team announcement page. However, there are definitely broad scholarship systems and it can be difficult to understand.

Hello, I’m Eunjung Sung from the scholarship support team at Kyonggi University.

Q2. Please explain the scholarship systems and types.

Scholarships can be divided into state scholarships, suburban scholarships, and on-campus scholarships. In the case of suburban scholarships, it means a scholarship provided by a private and a local institution to the school. The state scholarship that we commonly apply to can also be separated into suburban scholarships.

Q3. What types of scholarships would you recommend for freshmen?

I think there are many types of scholarships at Kyonggi University. Most scholarships are given based on grades. This year, a new scholarship system was established for freshmen which did not exist last year. This is the 2021 Kyonggi Love Scholarship. Previously, Family Scholarships were given to those whose family members were attending or had graduated from Kyonggi University. The basis of Family Scholarships were the grades of the previous semester, but freshmen couldn’t apply because they were excluded from the list due to lack of grades in the previous semester. The newly established Kyonggi Love Scholarship is only open to freshmen. A new type has been introduced to provide scholarships for both older students and freshmen.

Q4. Please give some promotional advice for students who are not familiar with the school.

There is a college life booklet that the school pays for at freshman orientation. The booklet contains information about the four-year scholarship systems and types based on the time of one’s admission. If you are interested in the types that are listed in the booklet, you will find that there is no difficulty learning about the scholarship systems. If your booklet is lost, you can find the information through a notice on the website of the school scholarship support team. Announcements, emails, and the booklet are the only, ways to find information about scholarship types from the scholarship support team. Even if we want to promote a new or existing scholarship system, it is not easy if students lack interest in scholarships at school. If students are interested in scholarships, there will be no difficulties applying for scholarships during their school years.

There are many scholarship programs at the university. If you set a goal and work to achieve it, you can finish the semester with satisfaction. To do so, Pharos hopes you will be interested in the scholarship system so that you can achieve your goals.
