Leave the Kyonggi University Promotion to Us!: KIDAEJU

Kyonggi University has an official honorary ambassadors’ autonomous community. Its name is “KIDAEJU.” During an interview with a member of the KIDAEJU, the Pharos wanted to find out about the roles and work of KIDAEJU members, and feel

their determination and sense of responsibility. In addition, for freshmen who want to be a KIDAEJU member, the Pharos would like to hear about the recruitment process of KIDAEJU and see if there had been any difficulties.

 

Please introduce yourself.

Yoon: Hello, I’m Yoon-Jun Han, the 18th leader of Kyonggi University’s official ambassadors community, “KIDAEJU.” Currently, I am a third-year student in the Department of Intellectual Property in the Department of Knowledge and Information Service. After serving in the military, I was appointed as the 18th head of the KIDAEJU I applied for organization because of my love for Kyonggi University. KIDAEJU is an organization promoting Kyonggi University and it conducts various internal and external promotions and events to remind students of their intrinsic value. As a leader, I am responsible for the overall planning and supervision of these activities.

Hwang: Hello, I’m Hwang Ji-young, the 18th foreign cooperation team leader of KIDAEJU.

Is there a reason why you applied for KIDAEJU?

Yoon: When I was an applicant, I came to Kyonggi University for an interview. Thanks to KIDAEJU members’ warm support, after successfully completing the interview, I got accepted to Kyonggi University and later decided to apply for KIDAEJU. I had been watching KIDAEJU activities since I entered the university. Among the activities, I was impressed to see them on campus tours to middle and high schools. I finally decided to apply as I watched KIDAEJU, whose members fostered my goal consciousness by explaining the admission process and who introduce the campus to high school students who are having a hard time due to vague concerns about going to university, support Kyonggi University.

Hwang: I was interested in public relations even before entering university, and I applied because I thought I would regret it if I didn’t try it in university. In addition, after seeing students who were active in the KIDAEJU uniform, I think my desire to walk on campus in that uniform like them grew and greatly influenced my decision to apply.

 

What’s important if you want to be a member of KIDAEJU?

Yoon: As the university’s official ambassador, KIDAEJU members should be full of pride and affection for the university. Any students at Kyonggi University who have the sincerity to devote themselves to the university’s public relations activities can apply, however, students with the ability to design illustrations, edit film, and who have Photoshop skills will be given extra points when applying. The Social media page management experience can also be advantageous when applying for KIDAEJU. If you understand these points well, you will get good results during the interview.

Hwang: Since KIDAEJU is an official ambassador of Kyonggi University, I think the most important thing is love and interest in the university. Also, it seems important to have a responsible and sincere attitude forward KIDAEJU activities and university promotion activities.

What are the advantages of KIDAEJU activities?

Yoon: I think a KIDAEJU activity is an opportunity to promote the university on behalf of the students of Kyonggi University and to develop individual competence at the same time. In addition, you can enjoy various benefits such as scholarships, KGU points, certificates of appointment and certificates of completion in the president’s name.

Hwang: I think the biggest advantage is that I get to know the university better than anyone else because it is an activity promoting the university. I think it is beneficial because I can learn about the university I am attending and increase my

school spirit. Also, I think it is an advantage that I can fully display my ideas or capabilities in the process of promoting the university.

How has the KIDAEJU been active during the current COVID-19 outbreak?

Yoon: Through YouTube content, we are working on a wider range of promotional activities. In line with the current trend of the importance of media content, we have opened a YouTube channel to upload information and promotional videos to strengthen the promotion activities of Kyonggi University.

Hwang: We can’t promote offline due to COVID-19, so we’re trying to promote our university online. This year, Kyonggi University’s YouTube channel has been refurbished to upload videos introducing various school-related matters and departments. Also, we are posting various things related to the university on Kyonggi University’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

What was the most proud thing in your KIDAEJU activities?

Yoon: These days, we are focusing on various video productions. However, due to the lack of professional members who have dealt with video production, a lot of effort is required for planning and production. Therefore, after planning, filming, editing, and uploading the contents safely, I feel a sense of accomplishment and think “It went up well again this time.” Whenever this happens, the members of KIDAEJU become proud of themselves.

Hwang: The most proud thing during the KIDAEJU activity was when the number of views of a video produced by KIDAEJU was higher than expected. There were a lot of things that happened at that time and I was proud of myself, but the fact that many people watched the video that we worked hard to film and edit was very memorable and made me happy.

Please tell us your resolution for the rest of your activities.

Yoon: “Those who want to wear the crown, bear the weight.” This is a quote I used during the interview. As a public relations ambassador for Kyonggi University, it was my pledge to make Kyonggi University a representative university of Gyeonggi-do Province by enduring many hardships and trials. I will do my best to make Kyonggi University shine brighter by combining this pledge and the capabilities of the 13 members of KIDAEJU. Please give us a lot of support for our bright activities. Hwang: It’s a pity that I don’t have a chance to meet my classmates offline due to

COVID-19, but I will try to deliver various types of information to my classmates online for the rest of my term.

 

In this article, the Pharos has provided realistic information for classmates who are interested in and want to apply for KIDAEJU. In addition to providing this information, it was an interview that showed how hard the KIDAEJU members worked to promote the university. The Pharos hopes they will work even harder to promote our university, Kyonggi University.
