The Assembly of Students

On September 12, the assembly of students of the second semester was held. The main topics discussed at the assembly of students were the pros and cons of amending the rules of the student council (Suwon-Seoul Campus school rules combined), the controversy about the abolition of the preparatory committee for graduation, and the increase in the student membership fee. The Re:born council also tried to hold the pros and cons vote by introducing a text message. However, the vote couldn’t be held because of a lack of students participating in the assembly of students, and the newly introduced text message vote was disabled. The first, order of business was amending the rules of the student council. The revised content was that the assembly of students can be held separately on each campus, and the president of the Tourism College can host it without the student council vice chairman being on the Seoul Campus. In addition, the Central Election Commission school rules have been revised to select two committee members in the case of the Seoul Campus, and to enforce this change in combination with the Suwon and Seoul Campuses. Second, the student council explained the controversy about the abolition of the preparatory committee for graduation. Although some students worried that their graduation album will be affected by the controversy, he explained that it will not be a problem because a notice will appear. The final matter was about the increase in the student membership fee. The student council said that the price has been unchanged since 1996 at 8,000 won and that it was time for an increase. The student council showed examples of student membership fees at universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province to justify the increased student membership fee. As was mentioned before, the assembly of students was over earlier than expected due to the small number of attendees. The assembly of students showed that a lot of publicity is needed before an assembly of students is held, and that the participation of many students is needed in order to have a successful assembly.

The Kyounggi University Festival

The Kyounggi University festival was held from September 18 to 20. This year’s festival was named “K’RUSH,” which means “Let’s rush to the school festival.” During the festival, a lot of events and services were offered for attendees’ enjoyment like the central performance, street booths, disco “pangpang”, food trucks, bars and beauty classes. The street booths had goods and foods for sale, and held various events. Each department’s bar was in operation throughout the whole festival. At this festival, the sale of alcohol was prohibited, so the whole campus was concerned about the success of the festival. However, every student followed the rules well in the festival. Also, the student council in cooperation with HiteJinro gave boxes with ice for free to students so that they could drink cool alcohol till the end.

During the festival, various programs were also held for students. On September 18, Sangsang Univ held an event at which you could get a “Life Four Photos” photo card for free. Sangsang Univ managed a photo studio so that students who wanted a “Life Four Photos” photo card could take pictures by receiving applications in advance. On March 19 and 20, the college invited beauty Youtuber Minsco, make-up artist Kim Ki-beom and Nature Republic to the central seminar room. They delivered useful information to students by holding a beauty class. In addition, the student council held the Red Circle campaign offering red circular stickers at the booths during the festival. The Red Circle campaign is a campaign that raises attention about crime using cameras by attaching red circle stickers that look like warning signs. At the first stage event, the student council also promoted the hidden camera prevention campaign.

During the festival, not only were events conducted and booths operated but also various performances were held. On the first day, cheer squads of the engineering, social science, and natural science colleges and band clubs participated in a play. Also, a contest named “Bar Snack War,” which chose the most delicious snack served with alcoholic beverages by the bars, was held. On this day, guest singer “10cm” gave a good performance and elicited a great response. The winner got a big prize, and students liked this event. After this, a talent show, the festival’s naming contest and the talent show award ceremony were held.
