There are a number of people from Kyonggi University in every part of society. Among them, we would like to introduce Yoon Jae-jeong who has become a star among his fellow students. Not only is he faithful to his school life as an honorary ambassador of the school, he also is busy working as a model for YG KPLUS, a major modeling company. Let’s hear about someone who feels close to Kyonggi University, but has no chance to contact us.

1. Please introduce yourself.

Hello. My name is Yoon Jae-jeong, from the Department of Tourism Development, Class of 2011. At the time of admission, I was in the Department of Pysical Education, but I changed my major to the Department of Tourism Development and now I’m a dual major in management and tourism. In addition, I'm working as a model at the same time.

2. Why did you choose modeling as a job?

I started modeling in earnest after I was discharged from the army. Instead of choosing a job as a model, I got a lot of encouragement from people around me. As I grew taller during my military service, I decided to be a model.

3. Please tell me the best and the worst thing about modeling.

First of all, it is the best thing to do because it is my favorite way to spend my time, whether I’m shooting or doing a fashion show. The hard thing was that I didn’t know much about modeling work and didn’t have acquaintances associated with modeling work since I started working at a later age than others. Therefore, when I started working as a model, the hardest part was that I had to deal with everything by myself.

4. Did you have any difficult moments or fun episodes during the model preparatory period?

When I was aspiring to be a model, it was the hardest time because I had to practice modeling skills such as walking, posing, and having the correct attitude at the time of shooting. The fun episode was at my first fashion show (2015 S/S Seoul Fashion Week MUNN), which has also been my most memorable fashion show so far. The models seemed to be very cool on the runway, but backstage they seemed to be funny and cool because they changed clothes while running and went barefoot.

5. When you applied to work for YG KPLUS, how was your interview?

First, the audition consisted of a document examination and a real interview. YG KPLUS is a sizable business, so I was even concerned about the document examination part.

However, I applied with the idea of giving it a try. After I passed the document examination screening, I went to a real interview with pleasure in mind. I remember there were a lot of people who were considered superior to me. The mood was serious, and the interviewers asked only a few questions while looking at me carefully for about 30 seconds. At that time, I was very nervous, so I don’t remember some of the questions.

6. Do you have any hobbies or occupations that you are interested in other than modeling?

My hobbies are traveling and sports, and my favorite one is soccer. I dreamed of becoming a soccer player until elementary school, and I still play soccer with my friends or club on weekends. In addition, I’m interested in being a flight attendant these days. My current job is being a model, but I like travel, so I’m interested in a position as a steward.

7. Please give advice to many students who are interested in becoming a model.

First, I always tried to be a model rather than just waited for it to happen. Especially, before my debut, I went to a designer every day of the week and worked hard. When I look at younger people these days, the sad part is seeing them wait for someone to reach them. Rather than waiting for good opportunities to come, I recommend you go to them directly with enthusiasm.

8. Last, please say something to students in Kyonggi University!

First, I recommend you find what you want to do, then try to do something to achieve it. You can do it even while you are in school, but it is also a good idea to take a leave of absence and take some time off. In addition, I’m optimistic, so if you have a good idea and have fun, I think that’s really what happens. I wish all of Kyonggi University's students the best in their studies and relationships!

Until now, we have gotten some information about modeling from Yoon Jae-jeong. We hope this interview has given many students a chance to reconsider about modeling. In addition, we ask for much attention and encouragement from Yoon Jae-jeong, who we are sure to see in various media.
