Pharos, Please Recommend a Good Lunch for Me! 안금현 기자 2025-05-07 23:27:32

Every college student stresses about what to eat for lunch. A school cafeteria is a place where everyone can enjoy a practical and economical lunch. In particular, there are several school cafeterias on Kyonggi University’s Suwon Campus, so Pharos will introduce four of them and choose the best menu items. For those who have a hard time making decisions, Pharos will recommend lunch!

1. Kyongchelin

Head up to the 4th floor of the Student Center Building, and you can find Kyongchelin as you step outside. It offers a variety of foods, including Korean, Western, Japanese, and Asian cuisines, all served in a food court style.

Chae-eun’s PICK! : Chicken Burger / 6.7

More over, Mom’s Touch! The chicken in this burger is mildly spicy and thick.

Buddy’s PICK! : Tacos / 7.9

There are too many students at lunchtime. The tacos at Kyongchelin have a high customer turnover, so you can have lunch quickly without worrying about missing your next class. Also, the quality of the tacos is pretty good for the price.

2. E-square

You can find it on the way from the 4th floor to the last class! They mainly sell gimbap, ramen, and donkastu, and it has the fastest turnover rate among the cafeterias at Kyonggi University.

Seoyun’s PICK! : Donkatsu / 6.8

E-square is always crowded but the turnover rate is fast. Therefore, it’s convenient for a quick lunch even when you have no time. Also, it tastes amazing for such a low price!

Jiyul’s PICK! : Bibim-naengmyeon / 7.0

If you’re craving something refreshing today, I recommend the bibim-naengmyeon at E-square. The chewy buckwheat noodles, pickled radish, and boiled egg are all perfect, following the classic recipe. It has a lot of icy cold broth, which makes it even better.

3. Sally Box

Located on the 5th floor of the Faculty Research Building, Sally Box mainly serves fried rice, pasta, sandwiches, and coffee.

Jeongmin’s Pick!: Crab & Shrimp Fried Rice / 7.0

Compared to other campus cafeterias, the prices here are a bit higher, but the taste and portion sizes make it worth it! A delicious shrimp fried rice comes topped with a fried egg, plus an iced americano as a set. This unique combination makes Sally Box stand out. Once you try it, you’ll want to come back again and again.

Keumhyun’s Pick!: Cream Pasta / 8.0

If you’re looking for something different, I recommend Sally Box’s cream pasta. The rich and creamy sauce is generously poured over the dish, creating a deep flavor from the very first bite. The noodles have a nice chewy texture, making for a satisfying meal. The sauce is rich and flavorful, but not too heavy, so it’s enjoyable without feeling overwhelming.

4. Gamseong Core

Located between the 4th Lecture Hall and the library, this cafeteria offers a self-serve buffet with a different menu every day.

Buddy’s Pick!: Korean Food / 6.0

I have a lot of early morning classes, so sometimes I rush to school on an empty stomach, especially after a night out or when I don’t get enough sleep. By the time class ends, I’m starving! At Gamseong Core, I can have as much as I want and enjoy their hearty meat dishes. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a fulfilling and satisfying meal.

Taewoo’s Pick!: Kimchi Spicy Pork / 6.0

If you see this dish on the menu, don’t sleep on it. In the past, the meat used to be dry and not very tasty, but the quality has improved significantly since last year. It’s not a fancy dish, but when you’re craving a filling meal, this one is a great choice.

Campus dining is more than just food. It’s an important part of campus culture. Students not only get the nutrition they need but also connect with friends while they take a break, making their university life more enjoyable. To keep up with students’ needs, campus cafeterias are constantly improving by developing new menu items and enhancing their services. Hopefully, Pharos’ lunch menu recommendations will help you choose your meals more easily and enjoyably. Pharos looks forward to seeing the cafeterias continue to grow based on student feedback and we hope that students will actively enjoy campus dining. Let's create special moments during our university life!
