Let's Learn the Long Board!

It was an exceptionally cold winter but the winter has gone now. Wonderful May weather has come. While the weather is getting warm, people now, come outside and enjoy outdoor activities. Because of people enjoy outdoor activities these days, let's find out about the long board. I'll tell you what a long board is and how to ride it.

 

Can you guess what a long board is? Some may know, some may not. Long board is a kind of skateboards and literally means a long board (A board which has a long length). Long board was first considered by Hawaiian surfers in late 1940 because they wanted to feel like they were surfing on the ground even if they did not go to the ocean. In 1959, the first long board was for sale in Hawaii. It is not as famous as skateboards because of its low awareness but a few long boarders and snowboarders who cannot ride snowboards due to hot summer have steadily promoted the long board. Thanks to them, Long board has a high awareness and it has become popular since 2010 that many people can easily enjoy riding long boards for their hobbies. Then, why don't we learn how to ride a long board? First of all, before riding it, you need to warm up and stretch your bodies well because long board contains a lot of potential injuries. Due to the long board characteristics, the lower body is mainly used when you ride on. Therefore, when you warm up or stretch your bodies before ride a long board, the lower bodies should be stretched well rather than other parts. Posture of lunge is one of the best stretching before riding a long board. After finishing the stretch, put your one comfortable foot on the board and put the other foot on the ground. Then, push the ground back with the foot that was on the ground. This will make your long board move forward. Put your pushed-foot on the board as soon as you push the ground and place it beside the foot that was on the board with shoulder width but half step more to make an ideal posture on the board. If you want to go left when you on the board, put your center of gravity on the heel and to go right, put your center of gravity on the toes. The most important thing when you ride the long board, however, is safety. Therefore, if you are a beginner, make sure you wear the pads on knees and elbow. Especially, helmet must be worn.
