Especially, a culture trend called snack culture is occurring among people from 10 to 30 while contents based on short media productions and photos are rising rapidly after the advent of the Internet and mobile use. The snack culture trend is a lifestyle or culture trend. It refers to the practice of enjoying freely online content like a snack while commuting or at lunch time because it takes only about 10 to 15 minutes per video. The best of the snack culture offerings is web dramas. They can not be viewed on TV but only on mobiles or the Internet. These web dramas which can be watched everywhere that there is Internet access are broadcast as an online video streaming service, and they are called mobile dramas or SNS dramas.

The web drama's feature or benefit is, first, they let people save time because web dramas are so convenient to view that people can watch them in any spare moment they have. Also, they consist normally of 6 to 10 videos so people are not burdened watching the whole series. Second, they are uploaded as part of an online streaming service like Naver TV Cast so viewers' reactions can be checked immediately. Third, they can be made with lower production costs than TV dramas. In other words, a TV drama's average production cost for one episode is the same as a web drama's seasonal production cost. Fourth, the web drama can produce shows in many kinds of genres, so it can have many fresh stories because they have no special limitations. Last, web dramas can have higher popularity and ratings because popular idol singers are showcased. This appeals to the target audience of young people from the ages of 10 to 30. Furthermore,

emerging idol singers contribute to the Korean wave. For example, a web drama named ''Aftermath'' in which Dong-jun of ZE:A is a main character moved overseas after it sold its copyright to the U.S. distribution site Drama Fever in 2013. Also, another web drama named ''EXO Lives Next to My House'' opened a new Korean wave because it was exported to Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, and China.

The first production was 'Read My Lips'', which was produced at a time when there was no term Web dramas. There was no promotion or strong distribution process, but it was broadcasted on MBC after 2 years of persistent popularity on SNSs. In 2012, after Naver made a web drama category named "Naver TV Cast", the web drama market opened in earnest. This market's major suppliers were companies because product placement can be used aggressively in web dramas. In the same year, the Kyobo Group made "Love in Memory" and "Love in Memory 2" in the next year. Besides, a vehicle for product placement was made to promote company's advertising an endeavors like Jawsfood's "Hot Life", and Samsung's "Infinite Motivation".
