There is a place that has recently become popular on Facebook, Instagram, and so on among college students. It is the Seoul Bamdokkaebi Night Mar\-ket. The Seoul Bamdokkaebi Night Market is held at Yeouido, DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza), Mok-dong Stadium and Cheonggye Plaza, and each market has a different theme. Among them, the Pharos visited the world night market in Yeouido Hangang Park where we enjoyed a variety of foods from around the world.

The Bamdokkaebi (the Korean version of a goblin) Night Market originated from a non-permanent market which has the habit, like a goblin, of appearing at night and disappearing in the morning. The world night market is held every Friday and Saturday evening in Yeouido Hangang Park Mulbit Square. There are various things to eat, buy and watch. In particular, the fact that we can taste more than 40 kinds of foreign cuisine in one place offered by food trucks is very popular among college students on SNS. The unique design on each food truck that shows the seller’s individual characteristics is one of the things you can keep an eye on. In addition, you can look around and purchase crafts from around the world, and from venues around the sides, you can enjoy various genres of music, magic shows and traditional performances from many countries. We are going to introduce a few foods you can enjoy eating here.

Hankki-A traditional Spanish health food, Gambas al ajillo : 6,000

Gambas al ajillo is a kind of tapas. Tapas refers to a small amount of food served before a meal that people eat while drinking in Spain. Gambas al ajillo is a traditional Spanish food that consists of shrimp, fried in olive oil with garlic, green beans, and so on, and you can eat it with a crispy baguette. It tastes a little bit like aglio e olio spaghetti (which might be more familiar to you). The mild spiciness was addictive. The shrimp was fresh and plump, and had a nice chewy texture. Moreover, make sure you dip the baguette in olive oil, which makes it taste a lot better.

Waffle Dandy-A traditional handmade waffle in Belgium : 3,500

Belgium's waffle is famous in North America and Europe. Waffle Dandy sells various types of Belgium waffle. There are the basic maple waffle, the whipped cream waffle, the blueberry cream cheese waffle, the ice cream waffle, and so on. We ate an ice cream waffle. That one is by far one of the best 3 waffles we've ever had. The waffle's surface is crisp, but inside is moist. Not only the ice cream waffle, but all the others are probably delicious. If you want to feel the flavor of Europe, go to Waffle Dandy.

Grab Go-A traditional Spanish cocktail, sangria : 6,000

Sangria is a traditional drink in a Spanish family. They drink it cool for relief from hot weather. It is a party cocktail made with sugar, sliced apple, orange, lemon and others fruits in red wine. The world night market’s sangria is made by boiling the wine, so everyone can enjoy the nonalcoholic sangria. The first taste is less sweet than ordinary sangria, but it has an addictive taste. In particular, sangria's charm is the bitterness of the wine and fruit flavor.

Oppa Sonmat-Turkish kebab : 5,000

Kebab is a representative Turkish food. It has the meaning of “grilled” in Turkish. You put beef, lamb, or chicken on a big skewer, grill it, and eat it with vegetables held in place by bread. The world night market’s kebab, which was inexpensive compared to the other foods, contained a lot of chickens and vegetables that made us full even though we just ate one. There were cabbage and tomato that were crunchy and fresh. The sauce was so refreshing because it was sweet, sour, and even spicy.

The Bamdokkaebi Night Market has a lot of other attractions as well as food. People can see various items and purchase cheap, high quality items in the flea market. Also, you can enjoy performances for free while eating. If you want to eat delicious food and enjoy yourself with little money, if you are looking for a place to have fun in fall, if you want to enjoy the foods of different countries in one place, if you want to see free performances, I hope you go to the Bamdokkaebi Night Market, a new cultural destination. Unfortunately, the Bamdokkaebi Night Market is only open from March to October, so you can't visit it right now. However, it is held every year, so how about visiting next year in March?
