Rest + Enjoy = Expressway Service Center

For the forthcoming Chuseok, many students will be go to their hometowns to meet their grandparents and relatives. Many families use the KTX or intercity buses, but most go down to their hometowns by car. It’s good time to meet relatives after being away a long time, but you will feel bitter about driving if many cars have flocked onto the expressways. Siheung Haneul Service Center

 It is the first regular service center on the shuttle highway outside of Seoul, and it’s an overhead service center. As it opened in November 2017, its facilities are very clean. Inside the service center, visitors can enjoy a variety of food and relaxation activities including shopping malls, food courts, cafes, and desserts. It is more like a department store than the service centers we are used to. Also, because it holds flea markets, we can purchase various accessories, bags, and hats at low prices. The center overall is clean and has good indoor facilities (printing shops, ATMs, convenience stores, etc.) and the view of outside is good. However, the parking space and the benches where you can sit are limited.

Deokpyeong Eco Service Center

The Deokpyeong Eco Service Center, which is surrounded by woods, is

also the most visited service center in Korea. There are plenty of things to see, eat, and do including go shopping, visit a play area for dogs, and go to “ooozooo” (an illuminated garden). There are many kinds of photo zones in the garden, so many visitors take pictures. According to a staff member, Deokpyeong has the highest volume of sales among service centers. The most famous place at the Deokpyeong Eco Service Center is “ooozooo,” a place that many people can enjoy. It is an outdoor garden decorated with various themes. Not only families but also couples and friends can enjoy it together. Moreover, there is a ride called the “Space Tower,” where you can enjoy drinking at 35 meters above the ground. If you go up to the maximum height riding the “Space Tower,” you can see all of the service center and the entire natural environment surrounding it. The service center is generally clean, and it is interesting because it is not just a service center for eating fast food like other service centers. If you want to enjoy a moment of relaxation with nature, the Pharos highly recommends the Deokpyeong Eco Service Center.
