Pharos had an interview with a senior in the major of Tourism Management at Kyonggi University, who is working at a public office.

Jo Sae Rae"Hello, I'm Jo Sae Rae, in charge of marketing for attracting conventions at Mice Bureau, Incheon Tourism Organization. I am a quick-witted marketer who speedy catch what the other person wants and have the sense that “This will be more efficient for them.”

Q. Is there any reason why you became a professional in this field?

A. Traveling is fun, but in aspect of work, I had no intention of getting a job because the pay was low compared to the service work intensity and emphasized passion. Therefore, I decide to prepare for unfamiliar fields such as credit card company, advertising, manufacturing, etc. I couldn't think of answers to the question, “Why did you apply for our company while majoring in tourism management?” At that time, I saw the announcement of contract workers at the Incheon Tourism Organization. It's amazing to think about it now, but I was sure I should apply for this. After deciding to apply, it was so interesting to read and write the self-introduction questions. The questions came out what I had been worried about while attending college and what I had done as a task. It was the first time I was satisfied with my self-introduction even though I wrote it so quickly. Even when I went in, I was satisfied with various processes.

Q. What were some difficulties in preparing for employment?

A. The difficulty in getting a job at a public company was written tests. The written test felt more difficult because the competition rate was high and the preparation period was different. Groundless rumors such as “The written test takes a year to pass” and “The document screening has a academic background and age” made it too mentally exhausted. However, you don't have to pay attention to these groundless rumors at all. Job suitability is the most important and must have the ability to view oneself objectively.

Q. What was the most helpful activity or experience in your college life?

A. First, I was in charge of all the presentations in class, but I entered the PT union club because I wanted to do better. I got the power to think from the listener's point of view and did a lot of research on how to draw attention. Second, the more job-related experiences you have, the higher the document pass rate. Even though, most of them don't know what they are interested in, therefore it's important to try various things as much as you can do external activities.

Q. Where does originality come from when you constantly come up with new content?

A. Since I had various experiences when I was a college student, I was able to see how to do it more efficiently and quickly when I was working. In other words, the source of ideas is great experience in the past. Following the trend stems from the willingness to search and find out. I got into the habit of searching for newsletters, marketing magazines, MICE intelligence, and newspaper articles and writing down key words in notes.

Q. What is your current dream or goal?

A. My dream was to become a professor, but I got a job because I thought I needed practical experience. At the moment, I don't want to do or be anything. The company is moving forward, still I don't want to be left and fall behind. I want to be remembered as the person who planned the project recognized by other local government offices.

"If there is anything you want to try, challenge it first and if it doesn't work, try more or find out something else. It will be regrettable that you have not been swayed by groundless rumors or vaguely scared and challenged. I hope you will continue to prepare for the challenge for all of this.
