Head: Let's Learn Badminton

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "badminton"? Most people in Korea would think of the "Wink Boy", Young-Dae Lee. Badminton has been a popular sport for Koreans since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. There are many people who would like badminton because it is both popular a and whole-body exercise. Did you know that Kyonggi University has badminton courses? Let's see what kinds of badminton courses our school has and how to learn badminton effectively during the class.

There are three badminton courses in Kyonggi University; a 3-credit class, a class in the Department of Social Physical Education and a class in the Department of Leisure and Sports. In a 3-credit class, students are separated into groups by their abilities and physical education students teach each group as assistants. Plus, male and female students are separated into different groups so that they can be taught in different ways. In major classes, in contrast, professors mostly teach all students in classes at one time and the classes flow in an atmosphere of freedom. If you are new to badminton or have played under a year, a 3-credit class is recommended and if you have played badminton for over a year, major badminton classes are recommended. These recommendations can improve your badminton skill more effectively.

After choosing which classes to take, let's see how to learn badminton effectively in classes. If you chose a 3-credit class, do not stick with only one assistant. Try to go around and ask many assistants for some tips or as much as you can to learn the many different skills of badminton. This way can facilitate a strong improvement in your badminton ability. If you chose the major classes, try to have many games with people who are way better than you because this is the best way to improve your badminton skills in a short time even if you lose. If you want to practice the badminton skills that you learned in classes, you can use a gym in Building 2 or the indoor badminton courts near the Suwon Worldcup Stadium.

Do not think that learning badminton is difficult because you can easily learn from school courses and now you know how to learn effectively in classes. Studying hard in the library is important but how about taking badminton classes with friends to learn badminton and stay in shape at the same time?
