Nowadays, people tend to prefer indoor activities to outdoor ones. The commonly used word “homebody” refers to this tendency. However, many activities that can be performed indoors are static and limited. Thus, the Pharos would like to introduce you to “indoor rock climbing,” which is a dynamic leisure sport that can be done indoors.

Indoor rock climbing is a leisure sport in which people climb artificial rock walls made by drilling holes in artificial plywood and attaching artificial handles. The biggest advantage of climbing indoors is that it is not affected by the weather. You can climb in a cool environment in the summer and a warm one in the winter. If you do it steadily, it will greatly increase your overall physical strength. It is especially effective in strengthening upper body strength and grip strength, and it helps develop concentration, persistence and agility. Many women do this to improve their general body shape because it is a good way to lose weight.

However, if you are obese or have too little muscle strength, it can strain joints and muscles. Since it is a strenuous exercise, it is recommended that those who lack physical strength work from the beginning to develop muscular and physical strength. In addition, beginners have to be cautious not to incur injuries to their hands and feet.

Here is how to do it. Usually, colored paper with a number is placed next to an artificial handle. Colors are defined according to the level of difficulty, so you can start by choosing a level. Hold on to the artificial handle, on which is written the number 1 on the paper, then find the number 2 and reposition yourself to that handle in the surrounding area. You can develop your strength by moving from number to number and sustaining your body against the wall with the force of your arms. Although it may seem easy in the article, you can get injured easily, so you'd better do some warm-up exercises. It is also recommended to take lessons from an expert at each climbing center.

You can rock climb with any comfortable clothes. Usually people dress casually or wear training clothes, but you have to use proper climbing shoes. Of course you can bring your own, but most centers rent or sell them, so it is a good idea to check out the shoe rental service. The center is available for about 100,000 won a month. If you want to use it for a day rather than steadily, it can be possible for about 30,000 won. It is also a good idea to buy a ticket in advance at E-commerce shopping malls like Coupang, Timon, and WeMakePrice.

There is a climbing center near Kyonggi University. The “Suwon Climbing Center” is a popular place for Ajou and Kyonggi University students, so the Pharos recommends this place to people who are under stress or want a new experience. Representative Yang Min-kyu said, “In particular, it is highly recommended for people with bad shoulders and backs who want to improve their physical condition.” If you want to relieve stress or experience a sense of achievement, we recommend this sport.
